Join mind/body/spirit therapist, Tami Boehle-Satterfield on the third Thursday of the month from 6:00 to 7:00 at the Cometa Wellness Center located at 10151 York Road in Cockeysville, MD for an hour of meditative relaxation and hypnosis utilizing sound, color and image designed to assist you in wiring new neuro-pathways for healing and wellness. Pain Management for Childbirth- private
Fear in labor can create and contribute to pain and pain in labor creates and contributes to fear. What if instead of fear your felt anticipation of joy? Six bi-monthly sessions begin in the 6th month of pregnancy and will focus on your vision for giving birth. Aided by hypnosis, you and your coach will learn how to recognize your fears and their triggers, prepare your mind for delivery, and be well practiced at relaxation and "glove anesthesia" by your delivery date. At delivery, you will be prepared to use your own endorphin response and experience childbirth as positive, with greater comfortable, and joy instead of fear. Additionally, your new skills will assist you after delivery and into the future.

Creating Abundance- private and group
Are there ways to change our own thinking that can influence our reality and improve our satisfaction with our life? Living abundantly may seem like an oxymoron in today’s world. Recent events over a sustained period of time have left many people feeling hopeless and fearful, especially concerning their financial security and therefore their wellbeing. Many are overwhelmed emotionally, mentally, and physically by the demands of “making a living”. It may seem that we are a nation on the cusp of panic and desperation and in this state many of us are suffering. What if there was a way to understand the ideas of “security” in a way that is beneficial and malleable? What if instead of feeling trapped, lost and fearful your relationship with the concepts of security are interactive and provided you opportunities for beneficial change? At the end of this 6 week class, you will understand what it means to live abundantly, how to facilitate changes in thought patterns to increase satisfaction and influence reality, the relationship between gratitude and abundance and have a future-oriented "map" for manifesting your goals.
Define, Design and Fund Your Wildest Dream- workshop
Expressing Myself- for tweens and teens ages 12 and up
Wednesdays, from 3 - 6 pm
Being agreeable is a great way to be a team player, but being too
agreeable can set you up for a lifetime of not speaking your own voice,
allowing others to decide your fate, and living a life not of your own
making. Allowing your teenager space and time the creative process can
enable the SAFE practice of expressing their own authentic and
independent voice. Peer pressure, rigorous schedules, and commitment to
competitive purists can contribute to burn out and host of unhelpful
behaviors and patterned thinking. Making art is a fabulous way to
decrease fear of conflict, increase courage in independent thinking, and
increase trust in one's own decision-making abilities. Assist your teen in self-expression that supports changes in cognitive abilities, that offers opportunity to develop attitudes and lifestyles, and that can enhance their health and well-being during this dynamic time in their lives.
This open studio forum provides weekly practice for art making and of techniques for self-soothing, relaxation and stress management through the education of the creative process via art making. The purpose of this group is for self-exploration, self-awareness, and self-expression through art making. Participants will learn how mindful practices through left brain/right brain engagement improves the creative process, problem solving in general, and self confidence, while reducing anxiety and self-doubt. The class meets weekly with a 3-hour window for participation. Participants can utilize the studio, and materials are available for supplementary use. Supply list will be provided.
Relaxation and Stress Reduction- private and group
Tuesdays, 6:30 - 7:30 pm
Overwhelming stress has become an increasingly common characteristic of contemporary life. When overwhelming,
it interrupts the healthy state of equilibrium that your nervous system
needs to remain in balance and in good health. The
relaxation response puts the brakes on this heightened state of
readiness and brings your body and mind back into a state of balance
where it can repair, heal and grow. In this 6 week class learn
techniques to reduce stress and promote relaxation. Through weekly
practice and with the aid of hypnosis you will learn how to relax more
quickly and more profoundly. Your ability to slow the physiology of
your body will assist you in managing your stress and your temper. You
will discover how to live managing life with joy and creativity instead
of feeling that life is managing you.
Self-Exploration in the Studio- for adults
Fridays, from 6 - 9 pm
Making art is an excellent therapy to support healing from illness, trauma, or life- stage challenges, improve
and enhance physical, mental and emotional well-being, as well as
provide insight to those seeking personal/professional development.
Research confirms that the creative process involved in artistic
self-expression helps people to resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and self-awareness, and achieve insight.
Through creating art and reflecting on the art and art making process,
people of all ages can increase self-awareness and improve their ability
to cope with health
symptoms, decrease stress and traumatic experiences, enhance cognitive
abilities, and enjoy the life-affirming pleasures of creating.
In this 3-evening workshop participants will create an altered book. An altered book is a book that changes its form in appearance and/or meaning. Using
an old book you will cut, tear, glue, burn, fold, paint, collage,
rebind, create pop-ups, rubber-stamp, drill, bolt, build, and so on. You
may add pockets and niches to hold handmade objects, special mementos,
or found objects. The shape of the book may change and the way it is
presented may change. Creating an altered book is a powerful way to tell your story. It is rich and intentional with personal symbols and language. Participants
will be instructed int the practice of mindful techniques to faciitate
right brain-oriented thinking that will support their artistic pursuit
as well as have the opportunity to process their art and their art
making process for self-discovery and increased awareness. Participant will have full use of the arts and healing studio. Supply list will be provided. Supplementary materials will be provided. Bring a bagged dinner.
Support for Parents of Teens and Young Adults- group
The Art of Living with Happiness- workshop
Are there ways to change our own thinking that can influence our reality and improve our satisfaction with our life? What if there was a way to understand the ideas of “happiness” in a way that is beneficial and malleable? What if instead of feeling disappointed, lost and fearful your relationship with the concepts of happiness are interactive and provide you opportunities for beneficial change? In this two day workshop, you will learn a new meaning of happiness, how to facilitate changes in thought patterns to increase satisfaction and influence reality, and the relationship between gratitude and happiness. The workshop will provide you with many opportunities for practice, inquiry and discussion. By end of day II, new concepts learned, insights revealed and techniques practiced will all assist in a life changing experience. You will find yourself practicing the art of living with happiness.
Women's Group- for adults
Tuesdays, from 9 - 10 am
Meet weekly to discuss a variety of topics that are important to you today. The group will focus on our
daily lives as women and the events that present as obstacles to our
desire for understanding, compassion, respect, and contentment. Self esteem and equality
will guide our discussion and help us better understand our inner and
outer conflicts. Through the education of mindful thinking, practice of
relaxation techniques, and group support you will learn how to believe
that it is safe to be the wonderful woman that you already are!
